Frankie whitty is an oakland-based filmmaker working predominantly in screenwriting .

Her body of work focuses on dark representations of the cross section of love and obsession centered around the queer, female experience. Her work is frequently influenced by whichever art historical movement she is currently investigating, whether it’s the illuminated manuscripts of Medieval Ireland or the avant-garde painting of pre-revolutionary Russia.

Frankie earned her BA in Media Studies and Film Production at the New School, where she also received the grand prize for her original drama pilot, Brigantine. She went on to receive her MFA in Screenwriting at UCLA, where she was a two-time finalist in the Screenwriters Showcase. Her writing has also been recognized by the Austin Film Festival, Slamdance, and Final Draft.

Her most recent spec, Restoration, is currently in development at Scott Free Productions.
